Quick Tips for Planning a Low Cost Wedding Reception

Other than the honeymoon and the diamond on your left hand, the reception is one of the biggest costs.  Most brides therefore are searching out low cost wedding reception ideas and suggestions that they can implement for their own day, even if it means saving only a few dollars here and there.

One thing to remember about planning a Budget Wedding reception is that you're going to have to make some sacrifices when planning.  Stubbornly insisting on that fancy country club is going to make someone go broke.  Be open to other venues, menu ideas, and even the timing of your reception itself to implement those Low Cost Wedding reception ideas.

Sometimes we don't think about having a reception at home or at the home of a friend or family member that has a big enough space to hold everyone.  This means that you may need to scale back the guest list but this too is important for a low cost wedding reception.  Many modern brides are opting for smaller and more intimate weddings and receptions anyway since they want their wedding to be personal and special to them as opposed to feeling that they're putting on a show for everyone else.  If you plan a low cost wedding reception at home you can prepare the dishes yourself (meaning you and your family and friends, of course) and do your own decorating as well.As you can imagine all of this will save the majority of the money for your reception.  You can also make your own wedding favors and centerpieces for your tables.  Wedding favors can be a small handful of chocolates wrapped up in tulle netting or personalized candy bar wrappers that you assemble yourself.  At a low cost wedding reception, the centerpieces can be paper flowers or candles grouped together.  These are all a nice touch for not a lot of money.

Of course planning a Low Cost Wedding reception doesn't mean that you should do everything yourself or that you'll expect friends and family to do everything for you.  Consider having a caterer prepare the food and just drop it off so that you can easily set it up and serve it.  Hire some college kids or ones you know from church or work to help you set up, serve the food, and clean up afterwards.  You can probably get some teenagers to help for a modest hourly fee which of course is less expensive than actual caterers, wait staff, and a cleaning company.Sometimes this help really keeps the costs lower and also you won't be feeling so exhausted by the time you get to your wedding day.

Remember, to have things low cost, they need to have a little bit more time spend on them so you can make it low cost.  You can spend that money you saved on your honeymoon, put it toward a new house, or just save it for your future life together.
